Mustela Mom of the Month, October 2026: Meet Chelsea
Meet Chelsea, a former Wall Street analyst raising three boys in New York City with her husband, Matt, and an English Bulldog named Barney. She also helped found SocialKidsNYC, a club that gets city kids together, in a place where none of her relatives live.
In this month's Mustela Mom of the Month spotlight, Chelsea shares the after-school ritual her family keeps, how her own childhood eczema shaped the way she shops for her oldest son, and the thing she wishes she had known before her first baby. She describes this season of her life in one word, abundant.
"Gentle, thoughtful skin care isn't a "nice to have" in our house, it's essential."

Key Takeaways
- Chelsea and Matt are raising three boys under six, and the walk home after school is the part of the day the family keeps for itself.
- Severe eczema shaped her own childhood, and she sees the same thing in her five-year-old, so nothing reaches his skin without her checking it first.
- Her Mustela kit travels. The Hair Styler & Skin Freshener and a mineral sunscreen stay in the diaper bag for long days out.
- No relatives live nearby, so she helped build the village herself through SocialKidsNYC.

1. A Little About You
Tell us a bit about you and your family.
"Chelsea Stellick, mom of 3 boys (ages 5, 4, and 10 months) living in New York City. We also have a boy dog, Barney, an English Bulldog. I'm an ex-Wall Street analyst currently taking a "power pause," and married to the love of my life, Matt."
Where are you based?
"New York City"
What are you passionate about?
"Raising resilient, kind, compassionate humans and exposing them to all the amazing things NYC has to offer. I'm big on early childhood education and hands-on teaching with my kids. I'm also a strong advocate for maternal mental health and women in the workplace. My doctorate research is in Alzheimer's disease, so advocacy around that is another passion of mine."
How would you describe this season of life in one word?
"Abundant"
2. Your Journey
What has been one of the most meaningful lessons you've learned as a caregiver?
"The importance of slowing down and enjoying the moment. When I approach things with patience and the right mindset, tantrums and difficult toddler moments pass so much faster and become far less stressful for everyone. But when I let my frustration and impatience take over, it ruins my mood more than it needed to and makes everything feel bigger than it actually was."
What's something you wish you'd known earlier on?
"That there isn't a magical moment when you suddenly feel equipped to be a parent. I know a lot of people wait until they feel "ready" to have a child, or to have multiple children but I've learned you just have to take parenting as it comes. Readiness isn't something that arrives beforehand; it's something you build along the way"

3. Everyday Moments
What's a small daily moment with your little one(s) that means a lot to you?
"When they spot me at pickup and run to me with the biggest smile, screaming "Mommy!" I'll replay those moments in my mind for the rest of my life."
Is there a routine that feels especially special in your home?
"Family walks after school."
4. Caring for Skin, Caring for Family
Why is gentle skin care important to you?
"I grew up dealing with pretty severe eczema myself, so I know firsthand how uncomfortable and honestly, how emotionally hard irritated, reactive skin can be, especially as a kid. Now my oldest son has it too, and it's brought back a lot of that empathy. Gentle, thoughtful skin care isn't a "nice to have" in our house, it's essential. I'm careful about every product that touches his skin."
Are there any Mustela products or routines you reach for regularly?
"The Skin & Hair Freshener: with 3 boys, there's always a little bit of mess and grit on them, so it's nice to spritz and freshen them up. Also the spray-on sunscreen, since we're always out and about the city; we keep one of those and an SPF stick in our diaper bag at all times."

5. Community & Support
What helps you feel supported during busy or challenging days?
"Talking to my partner. Sometimes it helps just to word-vomit and get everything out, even if he doesn't have to reply."
What does being part of the Mustela community mean to you?
"Community is so important to me, especially as a mother. As one of the moms who started SocialKidsNYC, a kids' social club, I'm big on building community. I don't have family in New York, so having a village is essential. Building a strong community, for myself and for my kids is something I care deeply about."
6. A Note to Other Parents
What would you want to tell someone in a similar season of life?
"Slow down. Enjoy every moment, because the days are long but the years are short."
One reminder or intention you're holding onto right now?
"Slow down and appreciate this season of life."
