Biodiversity protection
Protection of biodiversity
Biodiversity is all natural environments and living things : animals, plants, mushrooms, bacterias, etc. Today threatened, biodiversity is eroding and human activities are partly responsible. Together, let's take a few simple acts to protect biodiversity.

Did you know ?
Every year, scientists discover hundreds of new species on our planet. In the Amazon forest, for example, no less than 381 new species have been recorded in just 10 years.
The right thing to do :
For example, enjoy a forest walk to teach your children to recognize protected plants that should not be picked. Note : identify a website that list local plants to protect. A great opportunity to combine relaxation and learning !
Our commitments
Between 2013 and 2015, we intervened in the fight against the disease that affects avocado trees in Peru and in the care given to affected trees. Thus, we fight agains deforestation and we protect biodiversity.

Did you know ?
Seasonal fruits and vegetables are healthier because they have more nutrients. In addition, they protect ecosystems by respecting the cycles of nature and reduce pollution by limiting the transport of fruits and vegetables from aboard.
The right thing to do :
Today we do not really know when things grow. To help you, create with your child a calendar of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Very easy to find on the internet, customize it and display it in your kitchen.
Our commitments
We are commited to protecting local know-how related to the fruits and plants that we use in our products. For every interest in a natural resource, a study is conducted by a local ethnobotanist about uses of this plant. This report introduces our patents to ensure their protection.

Did you know ?
Today, an animal or plant species disappears every 20 minutes, 1.000 to 10.000 times faster than their natural rate of extinction.
The right thing to do :
Teach your children not to approach a nest because parents and young chicks isolate themselves and protect themselves voluntarily from predators. Observe them from afar with a pair of binoculars.
Our commitments
Since 2011, we have implemented a responsible sourcing policy for the natural ingredients we use in our products, including through the membership with Union for Ethnical BioTrade association (UEBT) which periodically assess our ethnical sourcing practices.

Did you know ?
2 billion liters of wastewater are discarged daily into rivers and seas, more than 23.000 liters every second. However, our seas and rivers are full of animal and plant species that are weakened.
The right thing to do :
When gardening for example, avoid using weed killers that pollute the groundwater and destroy the species living under our feet. Instead, opt for organic and ecolabelled means and help yourself with useful natural predators like ladybugs.
Our commitments
At Mustela, 100% of our cleansing foaming formulas are biodegradable*, it means that they are naturally decomposed by micro-organisms, in order to avoid water contamination and to protect biodiversity.
