When to visit your doctor during your pregnancy
Regular and painful contractions
Painless or irregular contractions are very common during pregnancy and are no cause for alarm. However, if they become regular and painful, or if they are accompanied by bleeding or discharge, they can indicate a problem. In that event, lie down for a while or take a hot bath, and contact your doctor or maternity hospital if the contractions continue. You should also do this if you suddenly experience intense or unusual pain in your uterus.
