For over fifty years, French pharmaceutical company Expanscience Laboratories has been manufacturing innovative dermo-cosmetic products to address the specific skin care needs of infants, babies, young children and mothers-to-be. The company is now expanding with a line of products developed for babies and infants with hypersensitive skin and skin disorders. The Dermo-Pediatrics Line features products that deal directly with atopic dermatitis/ eczema, severe diaper rash and seborrheic dermatitis (cradle cap).
Eczema, the most common juvenile skin condition which affects approximately 1 in 5 children, is characterized by extremely dry skin, itching, irritation and, at times, bacterial infection. The condition is often genetically linked and can be exacerbated by environmental conditions such as cold and allergens (dust). Typically eczema-prone children have a weakened skin barrier lacking lipids (fats), resulting in extreme dryness, irritation and a compromised quality of life.
Now for the first time an over-the-counter product line is available to help reduce the dryness of eczema-prone skin: Stelatopia® Cream Cleanser, Stelatopia® Mosturizing Cream and Stelatopia® Milky Bath Oil are true innovations in the skin care category as they nourish the skin by providing three key lipids (fats) both on and below the surface of the skin and by restructuring the skin. A key ingredient found in all three products is Sunflower Oil Distillate which enhances natural lipids and encourages them to form an effective skin hydrating barrier. This process is called the Active Lipid-Replenishing Process® and is unique to the Stelatopia line.
Stelatopia Cream Cleanser, Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream and Stelatopia Milky Bath contain natural active ingredients, are hypoallergenic, formulated without paraben, coloring and are fragrance-free. The new Stelatopia products from the Dermo-Pediatrics line are proven effective in reducing the need for local corticosteroid (prescription) therapy by decreasing the intensity and frequency of eczema flare-ups.
Stelatopia® Cream Cleanser is recommended for daily use to gently cleanse the skin with a soap-free ultra-mild washing base. The oil-in-water emulsion acts to protect skin against dryness with the Active Lipid-Replenishing Process and quickly soothes discomfort. The creamy texture makes the product enjoyable to use and leaves even the driest skin soft. A convenient pump enables parents to easily dispense the cleanser while holding baby. Stelatopia® Moisturizing Cream should be used twice daily, with special attention given to dry areas.
In the event of flare-ups due to eczema and/or intense redness of the skin, it is recommended that Stelatopia® Milky Bath Oil be used daily in the bath. Simply dilute two to three capfuls in the bath water and gently clean baby. The unique formulation, also featuring Sunflower Oil Distillate, will clean, moisturize and soothe the sensations of discomfort the baby is experiencing. There is no need to rinse off the Stelatopia Milky Bath Oil which will diminish the frequency and intensity of flare-ups when used regularly.
Testing was conducted under dermatological control in pediatricians’ offices. Clinical tests indicated that proper use of Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream (i.e., massage into skin twice a day for a three week period) reduced the need for corticosteroids by up to 75%.
