When to visit your doctor during your pregnancy

Introduction

Although the discomfort you experienced during pregnancy can be annoying, most of them are completely normal and are not a cause for concern. These include nausea, heartburn, round ligament pain and constipation. However, if certain other problems appear, you should visit your doctor without waiting until the next regular appointment: they do not necessarily indicate a serious problem, but a professional should examine you to be sure that everything is going well with you and your baby.

For the best outcome, learn to recognize these warning signs. Regardless of your stage of pregnancy, contact your doctor in the event of:

> Bleeding
> Leaking fluids
> Excessive vomiting
> Regular and painful contractions
> Sudden lack of movement in your baby
> Very rapid weight gain
> Fever above 100.5°F (38°C)
> Painful urination
> A fall or trauma to the stomach
